PLUNKET SOCIETY
MARTON BRANCH. The Marton branch of the Plunket Society held its monthly meeting in the Plunket Nurse’s room on March 13. There were present: Mesdames Tidy (in the chair). Ward, Hall, McCully, Beechey, Ingle, Stanford, Wallace and Miss Cook. Apologies were received from Mesdames Caithness, Howard, Barrington, Whitford and Sutcliffe. A Welcome was extended to Mrs. Basil Marshal, who had recently joined the committee. The Dominion president wrote regarding the appointment of Dr. Helen Deem as medical adviser to the council. As Dr. Deem possesses very high qualifications, and a thorough knowledge of the society’s work, this appointment should meet with widespread approval. Senior-Plunket Nurse Ogden, who is to take charge of the society’s court at the Centennial Exhibition, will shortly visit the various branches when she hopes to meet as many as possible of those interested in the welfare of the society. The Dunedin branch acknowledges with many thanks the donation forwarded by this branch to the new Truby King-Harris Hospital fund. Several financial matters were satisfactorily discussed. During Miss Richmond’s absence on holiday, Miss Gorrie was relieving nurse, and reported general health of babies in the district was satisfactory.
