WAVERLEY PLUNKET SOCIETY

FAREWELL TO SECRETARY On Friday afternoon St. Andrew's Hall was the scene of a jolly afternoon party given by the Plunket Society and friends in honour of Mrs. J. Currie, who has been secretary of the Waverley branch of the society for seven years and is leaving the district soon. Vocal items by Mrs. Jones, of Palea, and Miss B. Dunn and a piano- . forte solo by Miss Marcella O’Reilley were very much appreciated. A very interesting competition of flower guessing was won by the guest of honour. Mrs. J. J. Johnston, president of the society, in presenting- Mrs. Currie with a handsome silver tea service as a token of appreciation and friendship, spoke of the good work done by their secretary in the seven years she had held that position. Mrs. Haddow, on behalf of Patea, also spoke of Mrs. Currie's efficient work and said how much she would be missed in the district. When afternoon tea had been served all present joined in singing “For She's a Jolly Good Fellow.” and the afternoon was brought to a close.
