SOUND TRACK WORK TRUE TROTTING DISPLAY RECEPTION ATTRACTS ATTENTION (By “Rothschild.”) The Wanganui track was in good order yesterday when, with the hurdles out about 30 feet, a good deal of interesting work was done by horses who will race on Saturday. One of the attractions was the fine effort of the trotting mare Reception (W. J. Wheeler), who went away in front of Hillcrest (F. V. Cutts), Hearsay (H. C. Billington), and Transwell (C. G .Lee), and just held the last-named off at the end of a solid mile and a-half. Reception gave a perfect display of trotting and will race with the pacers on Saturday. Transwell was going very resolutely at the end, while Hearsay and Hillcrest (the latter freelegged) gave fine displays. Charlie Chan Wins. Charlie Chan (L. F. Bcrkett) and Pvoma Girl (F. V. Cutts) went from the two miles, being picked up at the mile and a-half by Loyalette (Colin Berkett), who set a lively pace. In the run home Charlie Chan, who sprinted fast, did best and finished full of running. Roma Girl was responsible for a good effort, and Loyalette was not discredited in being shaded by her more advanced companions. Vera Worthy (A. Carmichael) and Because (A. H. Carmichael) worked evenly over a mile and a-half, with a useful final sprint. Both looked improved for their efforts last week. Leelceta (H. C. Billington) and Great Guy (C. G. Lee) worked a strong two miles, finishing with & sharp run home. They made no mistakes but were not overtaxed. Welcome Guy Does Best. Welcome Guy (C. Berkett) and Native Worry (L. F. Berkett) went two miles, each making a lapse, Welcome Guy doing better in the run home. By making several mistakes Money Queen (L. F. Berkett) could not extend Tristan (C. Berkett) in a two miles’ bout. When going correctly Money Queen showed a lot of pace. Loyal Betty (F. V. Cutts) had an easy win over Frontier Boy (H. Garnett), when the latter lost ground by breaking up badly. Sent a mile by himself Frontier Boy did much better. . Count Parrish (J. Pugh) never put | a foot wrong while working a strong '
