GOOD SCORES RECORDED (Own Correspondent). BULLS, March 20. Weather conditions were ideal on Saturday afternoon, and good scores were recorded on the open range at Bulls over 300, 500, and 600 yards. Scores, with handicaps added, were as follows:—C. Cockburn. 34, 34, 35 103; R. L. White, 34, 35, 33—102; J. Hammond, 33, 35, 33—101; F. Simpson, 33, 35, 33—101; H. Meads. 31, 35. 34—100; R. B. McKenzie, 33, 34. 31— 98: W. Rankin, 32, 34, 31—97; P. Friedrich, 34, 33, 29—96; K. W. Dalrymple'.’ 31, 32, 31—94; J. Amon, 22, 32, 22—76. Flynn as Robin Hood, jumps, leaps, swaggers and fights with the sword with all the grinning, swashbuckling, clean-spirited virility for which Fairbanks laid down the rule two decades ago. Opposite him as the charming Maid Marion is Olivia de Haviland. The rest of the cast are all outstanding but worthy of special mention are Basil Rathbone as the dastardly Guy of Gisborne, and Claude Rains as King John, hated by the Saxons and pandered to by the Normans. POSTMASTER’S RESIDENCE AT MARTON Mr. E. B. Gordon. M.P. for Rangitikei, has received advice that Cabinet has approved of the acceptance of a tender for the erection of a postmaster's residence at Marton, and that the work will be put in hand at an early date. YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB The programme for the gala day, on Wednesday, is as follows: 11 a.h., tractor-driving com; petition; 1 p.m., post-hole digging competition; 1.30 p.m., putting the shot (161b5.); 2 p.m., sawing competition (2-hand); 2.45 p.m., demonstration of Romney sheep by Mr. A. L. Wheeler; 3.30 p.m., final of tractordriving competition; 4 p.m., young farmers’ handicap (100yds. approx.); 4.15 p.m., tug-o’-war (a) young farmers’ teams, (b) young farmers v. Farmers’ Union. Of special interest fo farmers will be a demonstration of Ihe latest flamethrower and an electric fence will also be displayed. HA WK ESTONE GOLF CLUB The annual general meeting of the Hawkestone Golf Club will be held in the Marton Jockey Club’s rooms, on Friday, March 24, at 8 p.m., when the annual report and balance-sheet will be presented, and the election of officers will take place. General business will also be dealt with.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING At a mealing of the executive committee, on Tuesday evening, of the Marton Athletic Club, Mr. C. C. McDonald presided over a good attendance. Hearty votes of thanks were accorded Messrs. F. Wood (four), M. Atkinson, K. Atkinson and C. C. McDonald (one) for donation of trophies for the school athletes. The West Coast (N. 1. Cycling Centre forwarded a programme for the cycling championships to be held at Wanganui on March 25. E. Gibbs, B. Dornbush, and W. Watts were nominated from Marton. It was decided to hold a social evening in the Tutaenui Hall on Friday, March 24, when the presentation of trophies will take place. Final arrangements were left in the hands of Messrs. Thomson and Stafford. ST. PATRICK’S DANCE There was an excellent attendance at the Empire Hall on Friday evening for St. Patrick’s dance, which included a number of officers and N.C.O’s. from the military camp at the Marton racecourse, and they presented a very striking appearance in their new dress uniforms. Many novelty dances found favour with the dancers and the music rendered by Tom Halcott’s orchestra was all that could be desired. A very dainty supper was dispensed by the ladies under the supervision of Mrs. Ralph Sutcliffe and her band of assistants. The dance was an outstanding success and those present thoroughly enjoyed the evening’s pleasure.
