RANGITIKEI COUNTY COUNCIL

SUPERANNUATION SCHEME (Own Correspondent) MARTON, March 6. At the Rangitikei County Council's meeting on Friday the question of a superannuation scheme for the Cornell's employees was considered. The opinion was expressed that the scheme should be modified to include only employees who started with the council at any early age. The clerk explained that the schedule had been drawn up by the National Provident Fund and the benefits carried a 25 per cent, subsidy and that thirty of the larger counties in the Dominion had superannuation schemes. Councillors G. L. Marshall and V. Smith stated that they would like to see the scheme started without delay as further procrastination would only cost the council more in the long run. Eventually notice of motion was given by Cr. V. Smith as follows: “That a scheme of superannuation under the National Provident Fund be adopted by the council for the permanent staffs."
