MONTHLY SITTING AT TAIHAPE • Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, March 4. At the monthly sitting of the Taihape Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, Godfrey A. F. Otway, concrete worker, of Palmerston North, claimed £92 14s from Timothy Devane, farmer, of Mataroa, being the balance owing to plaintiff by defendant for materials furnished and work and labour done by plaintiff for defendant. The work included the erection of a 7000-gallon concrete tank, the installation of a septic tank and fittings, and four troughs of 100 gallons capacity, the laying down of concrete paths, yard and curbing, and other items mentioned in the statement of claim. The defendant. Devane, counterclaimed for £23 14s 2d for board and lodging for plaintiff and his workmen, and for labour and materials supplied. Mr. G. C. Petersen, of Palmerston North, appeared for plaintiff, while Mr. R. C. Ongley represented defendant. After hearing lengthy evidence the magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for £79 4s on the claim, and costs. Judgment for Devane for £l5 11s 8d and costs, was given on the counterclaim. Debt on Motor-Cycle. E. J. R. Gaudion, of Mangaweka, claimed £l5 from C. Bodingstone, of the s.s. Awatea, formerly of Mangaweka, being the balance owing on a motor-cycle. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount claimed, and costs. Claim for Repairs. D. S. Marsh, of Mangaweka, claimed £6 4s 9d from C. Bodingstone for repairs to a motor-cycle. Judgment was given for Marsh for the full amount, and costs.
