PLAZA THEATRE

“PRISON YYTTHOUT BARS” A young and beautiful French star is introduced to audiences in the nq*v London film, “Prison Without Bars.” which is now screening at the Plaza Theatre. The newcomer is Corinne Luchaire, 17-year-old discovery of Alexander Korda, who produced the film. As Suzanne, innocent inmate of a girls’ reformatory, Miss Luchaire has many dramatic opportunities. “I’ll Give a Million” “I’ll Give a Million,” which is to screen at the Plaza Theatre 10-mor-row for a three-day season, is a light, breezy comedy of a type which is all too rare on the screen. The story is that of a young American millionaire, who, cruising in his yacht along the south coast of France, suddenly realises that he has no friends. All the people about him have axes to grind, and are not slow to say so when he is not about. Even his old butler is heard to remark that he is almost sure of a place in his master's will. Things come to a head somewhat rapidly, however, when, after announcing that he is retiring for the night, the millionaire is enjoying a quiet smoke by the after-rail of his yacht. He sees someone struggling in the water, and, not being able to make anyone hear, due to the bustle of the yacht getting under way, dives overboard to the rescue. He rescues the man, who proves to be a halfwitted tramp, but finds himself on the coast of France in a wet dinnerjacket, while his yacht heads out to sea. Before leaving the tramp, however. he announces that he will give a million francs to find a real friend, and exchanges clothes with the tramp.
