SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

WELLINGTON SALE PRICES. There was a large offering at the fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow held on Friday oy the combined Wellington brokers. Keen competition was met for all descriptions of sheepskins, woolly skins showing an advance of id a lb. on last sale. Short wools and pelts also sold well at prices par to Id better. Buying of hides was fairly well spread and values generally showed little change on last sale’s quotations. Light ox were a shade easier, heavy and medium unchanged. Ccw hides were in demand and improved by Ad to 3-Bd. Yearling and heavy calf were firm, while light calf were about Id a lb. up. Tallow at late rates. The following is the range of prices:— Dry sheepskins: Half bred, 7Ad to BAd; fine crosbred, 7d to 8d; medium crossbred, 6ld to 73d; coarse crossbred, 61d to Tii'd; half-wools, sid to 71d; quarter-wools, 4sd to s<d; pelts, 21d to 4id. Hides: Ox, 331 b. to 441 b., 4 7-8 d to s'.d; ox, 451 b. to 021 b.. 5d to sid; ox, 531 b. to 691 b., 5d to 6 l-8d; ox, 601 b. to 691 b., 5d to 6sd; ox, 701 b. and over, 5 3-8 d to 6 3-8 d; cow, 331 b. to 391 b., 4-ld to 5 5-8 d; cow, 401 b. to 481 b., 4$ to 4 5-8 d; cow, 491 b. and over, 4i«d to 5 5-8 d; kip, 251 b. to 321 b., 4-ld to 6 3-8 d; kip, 171 b. to 241 b., 5 7-8 d to 7d; yearling, lib. to 161 b., 61d to 8kl; calf, 91b. to 101 b., 7Ad to 8io’; calf, 61b. to 81b., 7 5-8 d to 10 5-8 d; calf. lib. to 51b., sid to 10 5-Bd.
