WANGANUI CLUB

VISITORS FROM WAVERLEY Six rinks from the Waverley Bowling Club paid a visit to the Wanganui green on Saturday afternoon to play a return match with the local club. The visitors were welcomed by Mr. O. Allomes, the president of the Wanganui Club. The fast greens and warm weather made conditions ideal for bowling, and, after very even games, Waverley von by the narrow margin of one point. At the conclusion of play Mr. Wicks, president of the Waverley Club, thanked their hosts for a very pleasant afternoon. In the results of the games the Waverley players are mentioned first:— E. WANGANUI EAST CLUB

On Saturday the Wanganui East Club held two tournaments, pairs in the morning and full rinks in the afternoon. In the pairs tournament there were 24 players. Beard was the straight-out winning skip, winning all three rounds. In the leads, Boss and Hayward also won all three rounds, but on the aggregate of points Boss won. Results of play were:—

In the afternoon games, ten full rinks took part. Three rounds of eleven ends with a time limit of one hour were played. The end of play resulted in five teams having two wins each and in the play-off of three ends Caldwell defeated Holloway and Kirkwood defeated Reynolds. Fletcher had a bye. THE GONVILLE CLUB

COMPETITION GAMES PLAYED The attendance at the Gonville Bowling Club’s greens on Saturday was somewhat depleted because of the returned soldiers’ tournament, but those present had an ideal day for play. The club competitions are all running to schedule and the final of the Saturday full rinks is to be played on the last Saturday in April.- Following are thhe results of games played on Saturday:— Banks, Sharpe, James, Wilson 16, v. The final is to be playej between A. North and J. Healey, each with one life. In the junior singles event J. Berryman is to play C. Piper, each with one life. The winner is to play W. Puddle, who has two lives.
