JAPANESE MUNITIONS WAREHOUSE MANY DEAD AND MISSING FLAMES SPREADING OUT OF CONTROL (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) TOKIO, March 2. It is officially stated that 22 persons were killed, 569 injured and 153 are missing as a result of a fire which followed an explosion in a munitions warehouse near Osaka. Six hundred houses were destroyed and 5000 are homeless. The explosion is attributed to a workman carelessly dropping a bomb amongst gunpowder. A War Office communique states that the explosion was followed by a fire, states an Independent Cable Service message. The flames are spreading and are not yet controlled. Troops are assisting the fire brigades.
