WEEK-END ATTRACTIONS MANY EVENTS TO DE HELD, Followers of practically ever; brand) of sport in Wanganui will be entertained this week-end by event of major interest. Cricket enthusiasts will be inter ested in the representative mate! against South Taranaki on Victorii Park to-morrow, and the women’s fix ture between Wanganui and Welling ton on Prince of Wales Park, Wei lington, to-day. Swimming enthusiasts will be at traded to the Fordel'l Swimmin; Club's carnival at the Gonville hath, to-night, at which no fewer than 1( New Zealand champions will be com peting. Another premier attractior will be the West Coast surf life-savin? championships at Castlecliff beach to morrow. Wanganui should he well t< the fore, as the Castlccliff Surf Sec tion of the Royal Life-Saving Society will be represented in every event. For racing patrons there will be th' BullsT'meeting, to-day. nt which the Rangitikei Cup will he decided. Rowing devotees will follow will interest the fortunes of the thrci Wanganui Clubs at the Napier rowin; regatta to-day. The local champion will be pitted against the cream o the North Island clubs, seventy-thre, crews having entered for 11 races. Bowlers will be drawn to the Wan ganui Returned Soldiers’ tournamen on the St. John's green to-day Twenty-four rinks have entered fo the tourney, which is one of the mos popular of the season. The final major event of the week end will be the- start of the Nev Zealand United Fire Brigades* demon stration celebrations. Making a tota of more than 600, with their wives the firemen will assemble i.n Wanga nui to-day, in readiness for the churcl parade to-morrow mornihg.
