WESTMERE WOMEN'S DIVISION FARMERS' UNION

-The monthly meeting of the Westmere branch of the W.D.F.U. was held a; Mrs. C. Laird’s home on February 28. there being an attendance of about 20 present. Mrs. Sherriff, the president, welcomed everyone, and the Creed was read. Apologies were received from Mesdames Norrie, H. Tavlor, Birch, and Clements. The minutes were read and correspondence dealt with. An invitation to the Fordell Mangamahu garden party was received, also to the combined up-river picnic on March 18. A letter of thanks was read from the matron of the W.D. rest home for the gift of pillow slips. A donation was voted towards the community chest. Owing to the probable departure, on holiday, of the secretary, Mrs. Pratt was appointed in her place. Mrs. R. Brown kindly offered the use of her home for the March meeting. An interesting competition was arranged by Mrs. Dickinson and won by Mrs. McKenzie. Mrs. McPhail and Mrs. Lilburne were visitors for the afternoon, and the former spoke for a short time on the children’s health camp which has just opened. The president closed the meeting by thanking the speaker, and also Mrs. C. Laird and helpers for their work in making the afternoon the success it was. The National Anthem was then sung.
