KING COUNTRY STREAMS MANY THOUSAND FINGERLINGS [ Per Press Association.] TE KUITI, Feb. 3. A total of 20,000 fingerlings has been flared in the Awakino River, 10,000 n the Mangaokewa Stream, and 10,000 n the Marakopa Stream, during the :->t few days. In the past trout, fry rave been liberated annually in these dreams and as a result the fishing has >een considerably improved during the ■>ast few years, in spite of the heavier ishing. Observations have shown, however, hat (he fingerlings’ chances of survival are so much better than those >f fry that the extra trouble in rearing is well warranted.
