TAIHAPE FLOODLIGHT SPORTS
AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB CYCLING AND RUNNING EVENTS (Own Corespondent). TAIHAPE, Feb. 2. Keen competition and close finisnes were features of the floodlight, sports meeting neld on the Taihape Domain last evening under the auspices of the Taihape Amateur Athletic Club The meeting was largely attended and the big crowd of spectators took a keen interest in the various events. Competitors were present from Wellington, Wanganui, Marton, Feilding, and other centres. Light rain made the cycling track greasy and R. Ulmer, the British Empire Games representative cyclist, did not do himself .justice on the slippery track. His machine was fitted with tyres suited to a hard track and the
conditions at Taihape did not suit him. Results are as follows: — Running Events. Girls' 75 Yards Handicap (Herbert Smith Trust Cup), Il to 13 Years. — June Roley 1, D. Percy 2, J. Stevens 3.
