FINED FOR WRONGFULLY ENTERING RUSSIA
BRITON WHO FLEW FOR HIS BRIDE PLANE CONFISCATED . MOSCOW, Jan. 3. The young British engineer, Mr. Brian Grover, who flew to Russia to take back his Russian wife, who could not obtain a permit to leave, has been convicted of illegally entering the country and fined 1500 roubles, or, in the alternative, one month’s imprisonment. The confiscation of the aeroplane and Mr. Grover's expulsion for five years from Russia—a visa to enter which he could not secure— have been ordered. After a daring 650 miles unplanned flight from Stockholm in a 70 horsepower sports aeroplane, Mr. Gover was arrested in Staritza. A pilot flew him from England to Stockholm, where, during his temporary absence, Mr. Grover hastily took off, facing severe winter weather, with little flying experience. Mr. Grover undertook the adventure to draw the attention of the highest authorities to the case of his wife. Mr. Grover was later released, and is returning to England. Mrs. Grover will accompany her husband from Russia.
