BELIEF THAT WAR IS INEVITABLE
FEtuNG IN AMERICA UNBEATABLE NAVY NEEDED WASHINGTON, Jan. 2. Asserting that American people believed war to be inevitable, Senator Walsh, chairman of the Naval Affairs Committee, urges that the Navy be built beyond Treaty strength if that were necessa r y to make it unbeatable. He outlined i five-point defence plan covering the enlargement of the navy, army, and air force, strengthening coastal defences,, and mobilisation of industry. His forthright statement emphasising particularly the seriousness of directors’ influence in South America, coincide with revelation of intimidation of delegates at the Lima PanAmerican Conference.
