HOLIDAYS IN 1939 HOW THE DATES FALL NINE FULL DAYS A survey of the calendar for 1935 shows that five out of the nine full day statutory holidays will fall on Mondays and four on Tuesdays. The new year began on Sunday but the holiday for its observance was on Monday. The Easter period alwayi includes the Monday as a holiday and commemoration of the King’s Birthday on Monday brings that holiday now on to the first Monday in June; Labour Day always comes on the fourth Monday in October and next Christmas Day will fall on a Monday. The Tuesday holidays include those for the day after New Year's Dey, Anzac Day and Boxing Day. The dates for the holidays in 1939 are as follow: New Year's Day and following day. —Monday and Tuesday, January 2 and 3. Easter.—April 7 to 10 (Friday to Monday inclusive).
