NEW PLYMOUTH REGATTA WANGANUI CREWS SUCCESSFUL. The feature of the New Plymouth Rowing Club's regatta on New Year's Day was the victory of the Wanganui ' Club’s youths’ crew in two out of three events in which it competed without leaving the boat. The crew won the youths’ fours by one and aquarter lengths from Union and the maiden fours by a length and a-half : from Union after being left more , than a length behind at the start. In the third race for the Collett Cup, the Wanganui youths were unable to stave off the Union crew and was two lengths behind at the finish. The McLeod Cup for the seniors was won by the Clifton four which won the senior fours at the New Zealand championships at Wanganui. The Union four was only two feet behind at the finish. When 100yds. from the finish, Union was overhauling the Clifton four rapidly. However, the Clifton crew' was bearing in toward Union and forced the latter crew against a boat moored at the wharf. Union and Clifton had their oars badly mixed up and some time elapsed before they could straighten themselves up. Clifton got away first with a length’s lead but Union reduced this to two feet before the finish. Wanganui and Aramoho were well back when the leading crews were halted, but the former crew was close behind at the finish. The singles sculls was won by R. Coxon (Union) and the novice fours by Union by a margin of seven or eight lengths. Ressults were as follow: Youths’ Fours (open weights).— Wanganui (A. Cooper, A. Taylor. M. Breed, G.
