RAETIHI
( AMPING GROUND The ever-growing popularity of camping fully manifested itself this Christmas. On Christmas Eve there were nineteen cars on the Raetihi camping site, which is a record indeed and great credit is due to those who have worked hard to increase the ground’s attractions. PERSONAL Miss Nell Anderson is home for 10 days from Taihape. Mrs. T. D. Baker has gone to Hawera and will attend the Stratford races. NEW YEAR PARTY A most enjoyable entertainment was arranged by Mr. and Mrs. Pat Mowat and held at their residence, “The Better ’Ole,” Duncan St., to celebrate the dawning of 1939. A few close friends attended and the earlier part of the day was spent in jollification and the general dispersing of the New Year spirit. A delicious luncheon followed, a prominent feature on the menu being “stuffed wild pork,” a trophy of the chase and a veteran secured at great hazard by Mr. Mowat and known amongst the pig-hunting fraternity as “Whitefoot.” A furtherance of the morning activities took place in the afternoon, until finally the singing of "Till We Meet Again” brought proceedings to a grand finale and the guests reluctantly departed.
