BRUSH AEROPLANES AIR-RAID PRECAUTIONS TRENCHES IN PARKS BEING RETAINED [ British Oflicial Wireless J RUGBY, Dec. 22. It has been decided with one or two exceptions to retain in a rebuilt form the trenches dug in royal parks in London as an air raid precaution during the emergency last September. The Air Minister, Sir KingsleyWood, stated in the House of Commons that during 1938 the monthly rate of aircraft production was more than doubled and was still showing a marked upward trend. He added that this greatly-improved position would be further improved in 1939. The Under-Secretary to the Admiralty, Mr. G. H. Shakespeare, replying to a question, said that full plans for the protection of merchant ships had been prepared and the collaboration of shipping interests han been ensured by the formation two years ago of a shipping defence advisory' committee. The Daily Mail's political correspondent says that the Prime Minister, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, has called for a report on the country’s re-arma-ment progress, after which he will decide the action to be taken regarding the Cabinet revolt. The correspondent adds: Several of those originally concerned in the revolt have capitulated to party pressure.
