WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

TURAKINA MEETING The members of the Turakina Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting in the form of a children’s Christmas party. Mrs. Henderson 'welcomed all present and although it was a very wet day a happy afternoon aws spent. Some of the members joined in games with the children. Mrs. R. Glasgow supplied the music. After afternoon tea, Father Christmas arrived, covered with balloons. He was greeted with great gusto. A basket of gifts was distributed. Every child received a present, also presents to take home to smaller brothers and sisters. Mrs. Sisson, a member who has taken up her residence in Wanganui, was presented with a crystal floating bowl from members and well wishers. It was decided to hold a social evening on the third Thursday in January Members are to bring husbands and male friends. Competitions for the day were: Best Bloom: Mrs. R.
