MEETING AT BULLS

The monthly meeting of the Bulls Women’s Institute was held on December 5, Mrs. Huddleston presiding over a good attendance of members. Members stood in silence in respect for the late Mrs. Klatt. Thanks were extended to two members for making the floral emblems during the month for Mrs. Klatt and the late Mr. C. Button. A donation of 12 2s was received from the Bulls R.S.A. for the Christmas tree fund, which was greatly appreciated. Thanks were also accorded to Mr. Jurgens for donating seed potatoes for the potato-growing competition. Mrs. Cooper won the Christmas cake (made by Mrs. Ross and iced by Mrs. J. Tricker, jnr.) Mesdames Green and Vile were in charge of the trading stall. The hostesses for February will be Mesdames Healey, Cornfoot, H. Green, v. Andrew, Stevens, S. Sanson, Bailey and Blanchard, and Miss Richards. Results of competitions were: Sponge cake, Mrs. Eyles 1, Mrs. Meads 2, Mrs. Ross 3; best bloom, Mrs. Farrer I, Mrs. Escott 2, Mrs. Ross 3;’ best antirrhinum bloom, Mrs. Ross 1, Mrs. Farrer 2. Mr. Cox, of Wanganui, gave a most interesting address and demonstration of floral and miniature garden work, which was followed with keen interest by all present. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr. Cox.
