WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
MARTOX JUNCTION. Mrs. Slight presided over the monthly meeting of the Marton Junction W.1., which was held on Wednesday iast. Several visitors were welcomed and the good wishes of the institute extended to Mrs. Jones, a member who had changed her name since the last meeting. Two new members were enrolled. Miss Kinross wrote thanking the institute for the donation to the college prize fund and extending an invitation to the school break-up. Several members volunteered to assist the Health Stamp Campaign by selling health stamps at the Post Office on Tuesdays ana Fridays. After a great deal of discussion it was decided not to have a meeting at al! in January, the next being on February 1. An interesting demor.\’.ration was given by Mr. Day, of the Singer Sewing Machine Company, who showed how the different attachments were used to advantage by extra neatness and time-saving. The competitions were judged by Mrs. Davison and Mrs. Matthews, the results being: (a) Bowl of roses for effect: Mrs. Low 1, Mrs. B. McKenzie 2, Mrs. Garry 3. (b) Three roses: Mrs. Low 1, Mrs. Lewis 2, Mrs. Garry The hostesses for the February meeting are Mesdames Brant (chief), Andrews, Archibald, Black, Bissett, Bowman, Clark and Cuming. Those *br the floor are Mesdames Steere and Sanders and Miss Slight.
