PEASANT STATE?
FUTURE OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA HOPELESS SITUATION REVEALED [By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright] Received Oct. 26, 11.45 p.m. LONDON, Oct. 26. The Prague correspondent of the Daily Telegraph, summing up Czechoslovakia’s i fition in the light of postcrisis developments, states: “To speak of economic reconstruction is about as reasonable as the offer of 250 visas can be of practical help in settling the question of 100,000 homeless refugees. The question is not even settled whetther Czechoslo--akia should rebuild her shattered industries or relapse into a purely peasant State depending for her existence on supplying grain to Germany. One thing is certair that the course taken will be one that Germany desires. Britain’s and France’s only possibility of retaining a fraction of the former influence is Czechoslovakia’s dire need of loans, which Germany is unable to supply and is the only hope of arresting the drif to Fascist totalitarianism and anti-sem-iticism.”
