REMODELLED RUGBY GROUND
TERRACED SPRIGCENS PARK COST TO UNION WAS £78(1. It was disclosed at a meeting of the Wanganui Rugby Union’s management committee last night that thUnion’s share of the cost of remodelling Spriggens Park was £7BO. Exac figures as to the total cost were not available, but it was stated that amount would be close to £300(1. Dr. G. J. Adams, chairman of the committee, said that it was a wonderful job, and, from the union’s point of view, an extremely cheap job. “Of the seven hundred odd spent, by the union, £6OO of it was in wages,” staled the honorary treasurer (Mr. E. F. Laws). Remodelling of the ground was undertaken on the basis of the State finding £4 per week per man, and the union finding 10s lOd per man per week to bring the wages up to the award rate. It will be recollected 1 hat the Hon, I’. C. Webb explained Ihe scheme to local bodies during a special visit to Wanganui.
