FAREWELL EVENING. Mrs. A. P. Fox and her brother, Mr. •C. Annett were tendered a social evening on Saturday, as a farewell, on their departure from the district. Mr. F. H. Thompson, who made a presentation of a handbag to Mrs. Fox and a case of pipes to Mr. Annett, spoke of their connection with the district over a number of years. Mr. Annett suitably returned thanks on behalf of Mrs. Fox and himself. An apology for absence was received from the Rev. Father Doolaghty. The evening took the form of a dance, cards being enjoyed by nondancers, beside a roaring fire in the card room. Music was supplied by Mr. S. Moess, Messrs. F. Thompson end Murray and Lindsay Thompson, supplying extras. Mr. E. Pearson was M.C. A very pleasant evening concluded shortly before midnight with the singing of Auld Lang Syne. GENERAL NEWS. ?»lembers of the Women’s Institute are reminded that the competition for next meeting will be a baby’s singlet (knitted) and an eggless fruit cake. Playing on the home ground on Saturday the junior football team drew with the Waituna team, the score being 3 points all. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Boshier are visiting Wellington, where Mr. Boshier will attend the interprovincial conference of the Farmers’ Union as delegate from the local branch. Mrs. McNeely, who has been spending the term holidays in Wellington, returned at the week-end.
