WANGANUI BOYS’ CHOIR
SUCCESSFUL SEASON EXPECTED The 1938 season of the Wanganui Boys’ Choir opened with a membership of over 30. The boys are taking a very keen interest in the weekly rehearsals and look forward 1o their Friday nights with regularity. Soloists are selected and given special tiaining. The appointr.i :nts this year are as follows: President, Rev. Raymond Dudley (Uncle Ray); non. accompanist, Miss Eileen Cornyns; hon. secretary, Mrs. O. KrLon; head prefect and registrar, Roy Healey; assistant prefect and librarian, Vernon Clare. . Colin Horsley, who has been the choir’s accompanist since its inception, leaves for England shortly. Books have been provided containing glees, part songs and choruses, also sacred pieces, which are all suitable for treble voices. These have been compiled by the musical director, Mr. O. Kitson. The season promises to be a memorable one. The boys will visit Wellington as guests of Ihe Wellington Boys’ Choir, with whom they will associate in concert work and comradeship. Then the visit to Wanganui of the Viennese Boys’ Choir will be looked forward to; it will be remembered our local choir boys serenaded this worldfamed choir on their last visit. Three more boys are required to make the required number for the choir, the membership list closing definitely on May 13.
