OBITUARY

MR. HECTOR BOOTH One of the largest funerals ever seen in Feilding took place on Saturday, when the late Mr. Hector Booth was laid to rest in the Feilding cemetery. A Masonic service was held at the cemetery, the pall-bearers being members of the Masonic Lodge No. 41. At St. John’s Anglican Church the pall-bearers were Mr. L. J. Wild (headmaster of the Feilding Agricultural High School). Mr. J. Knight (chairman of the High School Board of Managers), Messrs. N. Fitzpatrick and M. Barltrop (representing the High School Old Pupils’ Association) and Messrs. Haywood and Swinburne (pupils of the High School). The services at the residence, the church and the cemetery were conducted by Ven. Archdeacon F. H. Petrie. Amongst the wealth of wreaths and floral tributes were takens from the following organisations:—Agricultural High School and pupils. Feilding Jockey Club, Manawatu Hunt Club, Feilding R.S.A., New Zealand Farmers* Union, Feilding Club, Masonic LodgeNo. 41, Cheltenham School, Feilding A. and P. Association. Feilding Ladies' Anzac Lunch Committee. Feilding Agricultural High School Old Pupils' Association, Court Loyal (Feilding) Foresters’ Lodge and a Palmerston North Masonic Lodge. MRS. MARY DAMELL The death occurred at a private hospital in Wellington last week of Mrs. Mary Daniell, formerly a well-known resident of Palmerston North, where she resided for many years. Mr.s. Daniell, who had been in indifferent health for the past two years, was a daughter of the late Mrs. Annie McDonell, of “Inverhoe,” Lower Rangitikei, and her surviving sisters are Mrs. J. G. Smith (Palmerston North) and Mesdames Gray and Ernest Morse (Wellington). Of a quiet and reserved disposition and a devoted mother, Mrs. Daniell's death will be mourned by a large circle of friends. The deceased lady is survived by her husband and a family of three sons and three daughters. The eldest son. Captain Groves Daniell, M.C.. R.N.Z.A., was killed in the Great War.
