Displaying marked superiority in all departments of the game, Marton Old Boys defeated Taihape Country by 23 points to 3 in a match played at Taihape to-day. The home team, sadly lacked combination and gave an unconvincing display. Their tackling and general defensive work was weak, more versatile than Taihape and made more vrsatile than Taihape and made full use of their greater speed. Coles proved himseif a real flyer on the wing, scoring no less than throe tries. Moss also was impressive on the other wing. Marton scored seven tries in all, only one being converted. Marton's first try was registered by Johns, who scored from a loose forward rush. The kick failed.—Marton 3, Taihape nil. The home team retaliated, and Wereta went over in a corner to score Taihape’s only try, which was not converted.—Marton 3, Taihape 3.
