GOOD WIN FOR MARTON POOR KICKING KEPT POINTS DOWN (From Our Own Correspondent). TAIHAPE, April 30. Displaying marked superiority in all departments of the game, Marton Old Boys defeated Taihape Country by 23 points to 3 in a match played at Taihape to-day. The home team, sadly lacked combination and gave an unconvincing display. Their tackling and general defensive work was weak, more versatile than Taihape and made more vrsatile than Taihape and made full use of their greater speed. Coles proved himseif a real flyer on the wing, scoring no less than throe tries. Moss also was impressive on the other wing. Marton scored seven tries in all, only one being converted. Marton's first try was registered by Johns, who scored from a loose forward rush. The kick failed.—Marton 3, Taihape nil. The home team retaliated, and Wereta went over in a corner to score Taihape’s only try, which was not converted.—Marton 3, Taihape 3. Wereta suffered an injury to his head when he scored and had to leave the field. A passing rush amongst the Marton backs let Coles touch down for a try which Partridge failed to convert. —Marton 6. Taihape 3. Soon afterwards Coles scored again and Partridge converted. Marton 11, Taihape 3. Just before half-time the Bush brothers and Coles figured in a movement which culminated in Coles registering his third try. The kick failed.—Marton 14, Taihape 3. The visitors attacked as soon as play resumed and Moss dashed over in a corner. Partridge failed to convert.—Marton 17, Taihape 3. Another attack on the part of Marton culminated in W. Bush scoring an unconverted try.—Marton 20, Taihape 3. Bush brothers and Coles figured in an attacking movement that was capped with a try by Watt. The kicx failed.—Marton 23, Taihape 3. Mr H.
