BILDERBECK—HOPE

A pretty wedding was celebrated at Christ Church, Victoria Avenue, Wanganui, on Saturday, April 16, the bride being Isabel 1 Eileen May, fourtn daughter of Mr C. A. Hope, of Mangamahu, and the bridegroom, Leslie Otto, youngest son of Mrs E. Bilderbeck, of Wanganui. The ceremony was performed by Archdeacon J. R. Young, and Mr F. W. Slater played the wedding music.

Satin beaute was the bride’s choice for her becoming gown, very effectively trimmed with creme lace which modelled gracefully designed sleeves. A Peter Pan collar of satin gave a touch of simplicity and charm. From a halo of orange blossom and silver leaves a plain tulle veil fell in tram effect. She carried a bouquet of palest pink and satin chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern, completing a dainty picture as she walked down the aisle with her father. In attendance were her sisters, Misses Cecilia (chief), Ivy and Florence Hope, as bridesmaids and flower girl. They wore charming frocks ol apple green ripple crepe with Peter Pan collars and buttons of’gold lame. Bouquets of autumn-tinted and gold chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern were carried.

On leaving the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by her niece, Ngaere Cole. Mr K. Bilderbeck was best man and Mr A. Hope was groomsman. Following the ceremony the guests were entertained at the Rendezvous. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy blue costume with hat to tone and her bouquet was of autumn-tinted flowers.

For going away the bride wore a navy blue costume, blue velour hat and accessories to tone.

FRANKLIN BROWNE—LARSEN

The wedding of Joan Margretta, elder daughter of J.fr and Mrs Walter Larsen, of Gonville, Wanganui, and Colin Franklin Browne, oniy son of Mr and Mrs W. Franklin Browne, of Gonville, Wanganui, was celebrated on Easter Monday afternoon. Archdeacon J. R. Young performed the .ceremony, which touic place at Christ Church, young friends naving arrangI cd flowers most effectively for the occasion. Mr F. Wentworth Slater played the wedding music. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a lovely frock of ivory vaconu sheer over satin, with train. Fashioned on slim-fitting lines the bodice slightly ruched, a spray of orange blossom adorning the V neckline, ana tiny buttons finishing the back. The sleeves were full-puned at the shoulders, then light to the wrist wita points over the hands, xaished with tiny buttons. Hand-worked satin applique featured t:ie veil of ivory sifK tulle, which fell in soft folds from a halo of orange blossom. A loveiy bouquet of white dahlias, roses anu maidenhair fern completed a most attractive ensemble.

Officiating as bridesmaids were the Misses Franklin Browne (sister of the bridegroom) and Pauline Curry, who were dressed alike in frocks ot floral chiffon in autumn tonings. Pearl grape-like clips caught eacn side ol the rounded necklines, and a row of self buttons finished the backs of the bodies, which had short puff sleeves and high waistlines. They wore short veils of salmon pink stiffened net and autumn flowers in their hair, and carried bouquets of dahlias, zinnias and pom-pom dahlias in autumn tonings.

The flower girl, Audrey Larsen, sister of the bride, wore a frock ot salmon pink crinkled crepon cill on similar lines to those of the bridesmaids, with sash of French taffeta tied in a bow at the back. She wore a bandeau of velvet flowers and held a lei of autumn flowers.

The best man was Mr Keith Larsen, and the groomsman, Mr George Wisnoski.

At the reception following, which was held at the residence of tne bride's parents in Central Avenue Mrs Larsen received the guests wearing a tailored black costume, smart velour hat with asprey, shoes and gloves to tone. She held a bouquet of autumn flowers. The bridegroom's mother was attired in an ensemble ot brown romaine figured with a sell design, smart brown velour hat ana carried an autumn-toned bouquet. The tables were decorated will, dahlias, zinnias and chrysanthemums in lemon, orange and bronze toningo, and over the bride and bridegroom’s table hung a beautiful white wedding bell.

The bride’s going-away ensemble was in navy blue wool crepe de chine in two two-piece style, with Russia., coat trimmed in grey erminette; hat to tone in off-the-tace shape, anu trimmed with a quill.
