WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

r-OUKIORE BIRTHDAY PARTY Poukiore Women’s Institute held their fifth birthday party in conjunction with their monthly meeting on April 20. Mrs McAlley presided ana welcomed visitors from -lunterville; also several new members.

Apologies were received from members who were unable to attend. After the business on hand had been disposed of, Miss Smith entertained all by playing two delightful pianoforte solos. The beautiful birthday cake, made by Miss McAlley and iced by Miss Coleman, was very much admired. Mrs R. G. Dalziell lit the candles, Miss E. Dalziell extinguished them, and Mrs Gordon and Miss McLean cut the cake.

Results of competitions: Cream puffs, Miss t McAlley 1 and 2, Miss E. Dalziell 3; patch on tweed, Mrs Walker 1. Mrs A. McAlley 2, and Mrs S. McAlley 3.

Competitions for May: Jar of melon jam and best hat made from a sheet of newspaper and seven pins, and to be made in hall.

Hostesses for May, Mesdames P Dalziell and Geddye.
