EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING HELD
OFFICERS ELECTED FOR YEAR
There was a large attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Wanganui Employers’ Association in the City Council Chambers last evening. Mr W. J. Gibson Hughes presided and extended a welcome to Mr T. O. Bishop, secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, who was present to address the meeting on industrial matters. In moving the adoption of the annual report, the president said that it was essential that the association should secure more members and a recommendation was to be made to the incoming executive that a membership campaign, not only in Wanganui, but in the country districts, should be undertaken. The past yea: had been a memorable one for employers following the implementation of hurried industrial legislation. Many loosely-worded clauses had been the cause of much trouble.
The following officers were electea for the year: President, Mr W. J. Gibson Hughes (re-elected); vice-presi-dent, Mr G. Bennett; executive committee, Messrs J. T. Werry, L. W. Chisholm, T. J. Dickie, 1-1. Rowell, Siddells, P. J. Mailman, W. J. Gilberd, K. Armstrong, W. L. Burgess, C. S. Jeffs, A. E. Rankin, G. F. Newsome, W. L. Young, F. Mackie, J. B. Congrieve, J. B. Ashcroft, C. G. Rhimes and H. J. Dalzeli.
