WANGANUI CLUB CONCLUSION OF SEASON PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES The Wanganui Lawn Tennis Club’s 1937-38 season was brought to a successful conclusion on Saturday, when the club’s president, Mr N. R. Bain, presented trophies to the winners of the various club events. The following are the results:— Championship Events Ladies’ Singles.—Miss Margaret Purcell. Men’s Singles.—H. T. Cox. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses T. Greaves and Margaret Purcell. Men's Doubles.—H. T. Cox and L. W. Udy. Combined Doubles.— H. T. Cox and Miss Margaret Purcell. Handicap Events Ladies' Singles.—Miss M. K. Pawson. Men’s Singles.—C. W. Mackie. Ladies’ Doubles.—Misses E. Moore and L. Moye. Men’s Doubles.--N. B. Barkman and C. H. Fenwick. Combined Doubles.—C. 11. Fenwick and Miss J. Coull.
R. T. Perkins’ Challenge Cup (most, improved man player).—J. H. Finlayson. S. Powdrell’s Challenge Cup (most improved lady player).- Miss P. Moye. A. N. Campbell’s Cup (best performance in C grade association matches).—C. H. Fenwick.
During the season the club was successful ■in winning the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Association’s A and C grade competitions. Though the season is now officially closed it is the intention of the commil tec lo keep a few courts open for play until after Easter.
