LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
INTEREST IN CAMPAIGN QUICKENS Nomination of a candidate for the Mayoralty in Wanganui in opposition to Mr. W. J. Rogers, the present Mayor, and the announcement simultaneously with a list of citizens to contest seats on the City Council, Harbour, Hospital and Power Boards, has quickened interest in the forthcoming local body elections to be held in May. The date of closing of the roll (April 13) has become of greater significance, and the number of enquiries to ascertain whether enrolments are in order has increased considerably. A meeting is to be held to-morrow night to further the interests of the Citizens’ League, which is sponsoring the nomination of Mr. G. H. Trott for the Mayoralty.
