BRITAIN’S APPEAL FOR AIR RAID WARDENS. ( British Official Wireless.] Received March 19, 5.5 p.m. RUGBY, March 19. The response to his appeal for a million volunteers in connection with air raid precautions had been very good, said the Home Secretary, Sir Samuel Hoare, and the offers of help had been so heavy that the local organisation had been unable to cope with them. The Chancellor of the Exchequer had agreed to allow for income tax purposes expenditure of firms on training their staffs in air-raid duties provisions of shelters and equipment. ,
