Canada has not been requested by London to express an opinion on Britain’s foreign policy and no advice has been given, stated the Prime Minister (Mr. Mackenzie King) to the Press in urging caution regarding war reports. A poll conducted by the Toronto Telegrrm on the question, “Do you want Britain to go to War?” resulted in 81 “Noes" and 10 “Ayes.” The Premier of Ontario (Mr. M. Hepburn) stated that Britain was not fully prepared for war now, and it would be foolhardy and unjustified, he said. He would want to know the circumstances before expressing the opinion that Canada should support Britain in a war.
