SHEEPSKINS AND HIDES

WELLINGTON MARKET PRICES. Sheepskins improved slightly, but hides were easier at the sale held on Friday by the Wellington brokers. Sheep skins: Competition was keen and in keeping with the recent firming in the tone of the wool market; prices were from par to id per lb. up on last sale’s quotations. Hides: The demand was somewhat restricted and values for most grades were slightly easier than last .sale’s quotations. Calfskins, however, showed an improvement of id per lb. Tallow: A small offering was submitted and prices were slightly easier. The range of prices is as follows: Dry sheepskins: Halfbred, 7id to Oi'd; line crossbred, 7d to Sid; medium crossbred, 7d to Sid; coarse crossbred, Gid to Sid; half wools, sid to 7-id; quarter wools, 2?d to 62d; pelts, lid to s«d.
