During his recent visit to Wanganui the Governor-Generai (Viscount Galway) made an informal call on Mr J. H Kcesing. St. Hill Street. Mi •Keesing’s age prevents him from taking his acustomed place at various gatherings as of yore, and it was a kindly gesture on His Excellency's part to visit him, enjoy an informal cha: and convey to him seasonal greetings.

Sub-Inspector D. A, Mac Lean, oi ■he Centra! Police Station, Christchurch, has received notice of his transfer to Wellington to fill the vacancy caused by the promotion of sub-inspector C. E. Roach to be inspector at Dunedin. Mr Walter Hickman, of the Wanganui city engineer’s clerical staff, has had the misfortune to suffer a broken hip which wil! keep him in hospital for some weeks. Mr Hickman has been undergoing electric treatment for some time and was awaiting attention at the hospital when the bone in a hip apparently snapped. Mr Hickman is well known throughout the Dominion because of his association with the Wanganui Garrison Band. He was champion euphonium player of the Dominion on a number of occasions.
