SALE OF BEER
USE OF SLOT MACHINES MIDLANDS COMPANY'S DECISION Received Dec. 17, 6.50 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 16. A Midlands company, after taking legal advice, has decided to install automatic machines to sell beer in the streets all night and all day. It is expected that this will cause an outcry and strong opposition from licensed victuallers, but the company states that there is no legal bar against selling beer from automatic machines, which are allowable the same as cigarette machines. Sixpence in the slot will give threequarters of a pint of beer in a carton.
