COROWA BY-ELECTION. RETURN OF MR. LETHBRIDGE. SYDNEY, Dec. 17. The return of Mr. C. B. Lethbridge, Independent, for Corowa, in the byelection by an absolute majority of primary votes is assured. He has a majority of 73 and there are only 60 votes outstanding. It was cabled on December 13 that the substantial vote received by Mr. Lethbridge had come as a surprise to the Country Party. The result is regarded as a serious rebuff to that: party, which was very confident of retaining the seat.
