WINE OR MILK?

RELATIVE FOOD VALUES Received Nov. 24, 11.55 p.m. LONDON, Nov. 24. Doctor Louis Leipoldt, secretary of the South African Medical Council, and a well-known dietitian, is adveitising for identical twins on which to experiment to determine the relative food values of milk and wine, says the Times’ Capetown correspondent. Dr. Leipoldt, at the opening of the Renent wine show, caused a stir by declaring that it was better to drink wine than dirty milk. Throughout the world, he said, propaganda for milk was founded on a mistaken idea of food values. “Milk is a food for people without teeth,” he said. “A few raisins and a slice of bread is a better meal.” Protests against these statements have led to the plan to experiment on twins, who will be given board and lodging, but no payment. The winegrowers are co-operating in the experiment, which is controlled by a medical committee.
