Owing to the weather ■ conditions, bidding was not very animated, but with the exception of one small pen the yarding changed hands. Pigs were short in supply and bidding was very brisk. Cattle were yarded in short numbers and sold at late rate. They quote as follows: Early shorn 2-tooth wethers to 22s lid; 2-tooth wethers, 20s lid to 22s 8d; fat and forward b.f. 2-tooths to 225; weaner pigs, 23s 6d, 255, 265, 275; springing heifers to £5.

DISPERSAL SALE FREEMAN R. JACKSON S REPORT On behalf of Mr. A. E. Marsh, a dispersal sale was held by Messrs. Freeman R. Jackson and Co. yesterday. The extensive agricultural plant, cows and pigs were all in excellent order and a good sale resulted. A large attendance was a feature, over 100 cars being parked in the paddock. With the lateness of the season taken into account it can be considered to be an excellent sale. The majority of farmers have now done most of their ploughing and agricultural work for the season, and for the most part cows had been in milk since July and August, some having calved in April. The average price for cows was £8 10s. Horses, which were well known in the district, sold well and competition was keen for most of the implements.

The cows were all under test and all due to calve early next season. Top price, £l2 10s; average, 18 10s. Horses: Draught five-year colt, £4B; seven-year gelding, £4l; ten-yeai gelding, £3O; light gelding, £l6 10s; light mare and foal, £lO. Sheep, all S.D. flock ewes; M.a. ewes, lambs at foot, £2 Is to £3 3s 6d; one-shear S.D. rams, Signs.; ditto, ewes, Ugns. Pigs: Ten good Tamworth and Berkshire sows due to farrow made from £3 to £5 12s 6d; aged boars, 3Sgns. Implements: Milking plant, £46; hay tedder, £3l 10s; tractor tandem discs, £3O; ditcher, £l7 ss; tractor threefurrow plough, £25 10s; hay stacker, £2O; waggon, £10; spring dray, £11; mower, £lO 10s; Shave's plough, £l9; hayrake, £8 10s; lucerne cultivator, £6; plug drainer, £6 10s, and a wide range of farm tools and implements at full market rates.

THE WESTFIELD SALE OX BEEF FIRMER IN LIGHTER ENTRY [ Per Press Association. J AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. Lighter entries of ox beef after the decline in values quoted last week, resulted in a firmer tendency in this section of the Westfield market today. Cow supplies were fulfilled and rates were only firm. Extra choice ox made 40s, choice and prime 34s to 395, unfinished 25s to 365; prime cow and heifer beef 33s to 38s; unfinished 20s to 335; extra heavy steers ranged from £l5 10s to £l6, heavy £l4 10s to £l5, medium £l2 to £l4 ss, light £lO 10s to £l3 ss, unfinished £6 10s to £lO 10s; extra heavy cows and heifers £9 10s to £l2 17s 6d, heavy £8 to £lO, medium £6 10s to £8 10s, light £5 to £6 10s, unfinished £3 to £4 10s. A limited entry of wethers resulted in firm prices being maintained but ewes being reasonably plentiful values eased by about 4s a head on last week’s quotations. Extra heavy wethers realised 30s to 33s 6d, heavy 20s 6d to 31s 9d, medium 27s to 29s 6d, light 25s to 27s 6d; unfinished 15s to 24s 6d; maiden ewes 22s to 275; extra heavy ewes 20s to 235, heavy 17s to 20s, medium 15s 6d to 18s 6d, light 11s 3d to 16s 6d, unfinished 2s 6d to 14s. Prime spring lambs made 22s to 31s 6d, small and unfinished 10s to 225.

Improved quality was offering in the calf pens, which were well filled. Values advanced 2s a head on the previous sale, except for plain calves, which made firm prices. Runners brought £3 10s to £8 Ils, heavy vealers £5 to £5 16s. medium £4 to £4 18s, light £3 to £3 16s, smaller £2 to £2 19s, small and unfinished 18s to 365, rough 15s to 30s and bobby 7s to 19s. A large yarding of good quality pigs failed to maintain the improved values of last week, both baconers and porkers being about 2s a head cheaper. Choppers £2 to £4 3s, heavy baconers £3 15s to £4 3s, medium £3 8s to £3 17s, light £3 3s to £3 10s; heavy porkers £2 15s to £3 3s, medium
