FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE

ENGLISH PRECAUTIONS. LONDON, Nov. 22. Conditionally that every exhibit will be slaughtered in London after the show, because of foot-and-mouth diseases, the Ministry of Agriculture has given permission to the Smithfield Club to hold a cattle show at Islington in December The King is sending entries of cattle and sheep. The entries total 1000. In the House of Commons, questioned whether in view ot the seriousness of foot-and-mouth disease, the House would be given an opportunity to discuss the matter before Christmas, Mr. Chamberlain said that although serious the position was not alarming. There was no reason to suppose that measures affective in the past would not again be successful The position was being carefully watchdd. The King’s farms at Sandringham are now within the infected area. Therefore cattle from this estate will be barred at Christmas exhibitions.
