DOMINION COACH I MR. FI. AYRES APPOINTED i Pet Press Association. 7 WELLINGTON, Nov. X 3. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Rowing Association tonight, Mr. H. Ayres, of Christchurch, was appointed coach of the Dominion’s rowing representatives for the Empire Games at Sydney in February. As an oarsman Mr. Ayres had a , long and successful career and was a New Zealand champion. His record as a coach is also notable. In that capacity he accompanied the New Zealand oarsmen to Sydney in 1925, when an unbeaten record included successes in New’ South Wales, the champion eights, the champion sculls and the invitation fours. Mr. Ayres was also coach of the crew which represented the Dominion at the Empire Games at Hamilton, Ontario, in 1934. and of the Canterbury crew which won the first interprovincial eight-oared championship New Zealand.
