COLLAPSE OF POWER POLE. [ Per Press Association. ] WHAKATANE, Nov. 23. The collapse of a power pole resulted in Len Ormond, electrician in the employ of the Whakatane Borough Council, sustaining a fractured skull and fractured leg. Ormond had mounted the pole and disconnected the wires to be replaced by higher power lines, when the pole broke below the ground and fell on top of him. He was conveyed to the Whakatane Hospital, where his condition is reported to be serious.
