Dr. and Mrs. E. W. Gieson, Wellington, were recent visitors to Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. P. Graham, Wanganui, have been visiting Wellington. Mrs. F. Faber has returned to Wanganui from New Plymouth. Mrs. R. J. Jackson was a Wanganui visitor to Wellington this week. Mrs. J. B. Joll, Hawera, who has been spending a few weeks in Wanganui, intends returning home during the week-end. Mrs. L. Moorhouse arrived from Hawera yesterday to spend a week in Wanganui on her way to Wellington. Mrs. A. Bailey left Wanganui early in the week to stay at Hawera as the guest of Mrs. McL’Dowie, Matapu. Miss Eleanor Rose, of Hawke’s Bay, a former matron of the Wanganui Karitane Home, is visiting the city, and is the guest of Miss F. H. Shaw, Hipango Terrace . Mrs. C. A. Smith, Caius Avenue, left on Thursday by car for Napier, where she will attend the McKenzie —Lowrie wedding. Miss Eileen Hawke, of Wanganui East, was successful at the Hawera Show in winning the Highland Fling and Irish Jig in the classes under 12 years of age. Lady Mensforth, wife of Sir Holberry Mensforth, of Bucks, England, arrived by the Rangitata on Wednesday to spend twelve days in the Dominion before going on to Australia in the course of a world tour. Miss C. Speagell, who has rendered excellent service as hon. secretary for the S.P.C.A., has resigned from the position owing to pressure of work. Appreciation of her services was recorded at the monthly meeting of the society held on Tuesday.
