Garden Party. St. David’s annual garden party will take place to-morrow afternoon in the church grounds, Upper Aramoho, at 2 p.m. For the entertainment of visitors. there will be games of all kinds, and well-stocked stalls including cakes, sweets, produce, and work stall. Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club. • At the annual meeting and presentation of prizes of the Wanganui Ladies’ Golf Club held at Belmont on Wednesday, Mrs. N. G. Armstrong was made a life member of the club in recognition of her 40 years as an active member. Miss Montgomery Moore (president) later entertained members and friends, numbering about 100, at afternoon tea. W.D.F.U. Shop Day. The annual shop day arranged by the Wanganui branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Division Rooms on Wednesday, and considering the boisterous weather conditions and the various other functions which were held, the effort was most successful. The cake competition was won by j Mrs. J. Hair, and the stall-holders | were as follow: Kitchen stall, con-j taining ovencloths, aprons, home-made soap, pudding covers, etc., was in charge of Mesdames Hood and McLeay; produce stall, Mesdames Blyth, Hair, and Pollock; cake stall, Mesdames McPhail and McDougal; flowers and sweets, Mrs. J. C. Wickham and Miss Polson. Morning and afternoon tea was served by the tea convener, Mrs. Soundy, assisted by Miss Worgan and Miss Sampson.
