CHILD DROWNED
FELL OVER WHARF SCHOOL PICNIC FATALITY [ Per Press Association. ] WELLINGTON, Nov. 18. Judith Chapman, Wellington, aged about seven, was accidentally drowned at Days’ Bay this afternoon. The child, who was attending a school picnic of St. Mary’s Convent, apparently fell while paddling near the wharf with her playmates. Although the custodian at Williams Park applied artificial respiration until a doctor arrived, the child did not recover.
