THE CONCLUDING DAY STAKES TO BLACK MAC THE TRUMP FINISHES LAST Received Nov. 7, 7.5 p.m. MELBOURNE, Nov. 7. The weather was dull and threatening for (he fourth and concluding day of the Victoria Racing Club’s meeting at Flemington yesterday. Nightguard broke an unlucky run with his victory in the Batman Stakes. Thurles Lad set a great pace early and then tired but beat Egotist for place honours. Pantoon and Silver Bond were never dangerous. Bellevue finished, fast. Good Boy led all the Way in the Flemington Stakes, which he won in attractive fashion. He cost 1000 guineas as a yearling and started once previously. The sensation f the C. B. Fisher Plate was that The Trump finished last of the live runners. The early stages of .the race were farcical, the five horses travelling at a slow pace. They were well bunched at the turn, where Black Mac shot away to beat the pacemaker, Sarcherie. Allunga finished well, ' he Trump was under the whip but made little impression. Old Rowley finished well to beat the unlucky Silver standard in the V.R.C. Handicap. Willie Win, who had an interrupted run in the straight, deadheated for third with Donaster. Wotan, who had every show, finished sixth. Showing the best form of his career Pride of the Plain easily won the Victoria Steeplechase. The time knocked 54 seconds off the course record. Two Kings and Scardus had no hope with the winner. On Approval had a comfortable win in the Ottawa Stakes. Bathing Beauty was badly placed early but finished well. Trendel was a fair third. China Clipper was never dangerous. Young Idea was badly placed in the early stages of the Final Handicap, but finished brilliantly to win from Panax and the pacemaker Lady Korringal.
