Fire in Bamboo Bush. At 10.02 p.m. yesterday the Wanganui Central Fire Brigade received a call to No. 3 Line near Gerse Street, where a bamboo bush was on fire. The outbreak was soon suppressed. New Stamps Next Year. Early next year New Zealand is to have two new stamps bearing the head of King George VI. These will be of the penny and half-penny denomination and will replace the present fantail half-penny and kiwi penny. The new design will be similar in both stamps, His Majesty's portrait being taken from a photograph by Dorothy Wilding. The stamps are to be printed in England. The new halfpenny stamp is likely to be introduced toward the end of February and the penny a little later.
